Feeder steers were firm to 2c dearer on heavy weights with prices ranging from 300c to 355c averaging 336c/kg at SELX yesterday.
There was an increase in numbers mainly in the cow run. The quality still remains plain but there was an increase in the number of better conditioned cattle offered.
Around 250 cows were penned and included a few more heavy weights. All the usual buyers operated and an extra feeder order was operating.
Restocking weaner steers eased 6c ranging from 310c to 358c/kg. The trade vealers sold from 335c to 350c/kg.
Feeder steers were firm to 2c dearer on heavy weights with prices ranging from 300c to 355c averaging 336c/kg. Feeder heifers were back by 20c receiving 280c to 300c/kg. Heavy trade cattle lifted 7c on quality and ranged from 278c to 305c/kg.
Grown steers and bullocks over 500kg were limited and sold to a cheaper trend and made from 258c to 285c/kg. Heavy grown heifers were stronger and sold from 275c to 290c/kg for the majority of the D3s.
Medium weight 2 score cows were 10c dearer with added restocking competition and sold from 170c to 225c/kg. Heavy cows were unchanged and made from 222c to 245c/kg.
