New South Wales bidders appeared to have the deepest pockets this week, with 50% of stock listing finding there new home in the premier state.

Young PTIC breeders made a top of $2,200 and found a $1,393 average on AuctionsPlus.

This top price went to a line of 2 year old Angus heifers from Camoola Angus, Lang Lang, VIC.

Total cattle listings increased to 10,148 head this week, with a 50 % national clearance.

Again New South Wales and Queensland represented the majority of this weeks listings, with a combined total of 9,037 head and a 51% clearance.

National clearance was boosted by significant bidding activity in South Australia, which experienced an encouraging 81% clearance, while clearance in Victoria fell to 28%.

PTIC females were abundant in this weeks listings, with 2,849 head throughout all sales. However bidding action was quieter across this category with a 34% clearance.

In the north, a line 64 Belmont Red heifers from ‘Melvyn’ Talwood, QLD made $1,475. Proven breeders outsold their younger counterparts, selling to a $1,618 average for a $2,090 top.

This top price went to line of 6 year old Angus third calvers from ‘Mayfield’ Blayney, NSW. In other breeds, a line of 68 Poll Herefords matrons from ‘Gum Creek’ Willbriggie, NSW made $1,790.

Cow and calves made up a smaller portion of this weeks listing, however this didn’t dampen some outstanding bidding action on sold stock.

In particular, first calvers found an average of $2,398 and reached a scorching $2,780 top price. This went to a line of Angus cows with fresh Angus calves at foot from ‘Cowabee’ Moss Vale, NSW. Another line of Angus and Angus cross cows and calves from ‘Karoola East’ Guyra, NSW made $2,440, massive $1,040 over their reserve.

Older Cows and Calves reached a top of $2,410 for a $1,882 average. This top price went to a line of 73 Angus cows with their second calves at foot from vendor ‘Harmony Operations Australia’ Dundonnell, VIC. In the north, a line of 76 Brahman 4 to 10 year olds from ‘Glenaras Pastoral’ Ilfracombe, QLD sold for $1,550.

The annual draft of weaner heifers vendor Speriby North were offered today. The 163 heifers offered over 5 lots averaged $2,188 and topped at $2,220.

With their high-marbling genetics, these top quality heifers will be well-placed in breeding operations and have found new homes from central QLD to northern NSW.
