Feeder steers lifted 8c to 10c with the medium and heavy weights ranging from 256c to 290c/kg at SELX this week.
Numbers lifted and the quality was good. Young cattle were best supplied and there were plenty of cattle which went to a large feeder and restocking buying group.
Trade cattle were slightly better supplied. There was a much better run of well finished bullocks and plenty of well covered grown heifers. Cows were a little more mixed with a few more lighter plainer cows with the prime heavy weights. The market was stronger.
Restocking weaner steers sold to 307c and heifers to 285c/kg. The best of the vealers reached 265c/kg.
Feeder heifers gained 15c and sold between 242c and 270c/kg. Heavy trade steers lifted 8c and received from 262c to 274c/kg. Trade heifers made 262c to 275c/kg for the light and medium weights.
Grown steers and bullocks sold to strong demand, lifting 18c, to sell from 265c to 278c/kg. Grown heifers were 20c dearer and made 235c to 260c/kg.
Cows were firm to 6c stronger with the 2 scores making between 185c and 212c/kg. The heavy 3 and 4 scores made between 190c and 215c, with young cows reaching 235c/kg. The 4 score cows averaged 209c/kg.
