Heifers to feed sold to slightly stronger prices to average 268c to 272c/kg at SELX this week.
Due to good rainfalls in the supply area numbers declined. Quality was also affected with a plainer run of cattle.
Yearlings were well-supplied and grown steers and heifers were well back in numbers. Only 85 cows were offered to a reduced field of buyers.
The market trend was cheaper, but this was mostly quality driven.
Restocking vealer steers sold to 314c/kg on medium weights. Vealers to process made from 285c to 301c/kg. Feeder steers averaged cheaper, but there was not the quality of previous weeks with prices from 262c to 302c/kg. Medium weight steers to restock reached 314c/kg.
Only a few trade cattle were sold and steers made from 272c to 290c/kg.
A very limited supply of grown steers sold to similar prices with 2 tooth steers reaching 285c and older steers starting at 245c/kg.
Grown heifers were 2c to 4c/kg cheaper. Restockers paid 214c to 240c/kg for the lighter weights. Heavy processing heifers sold from 240c to 265c/kg.
Cows were firm to a few cents easier. Medium weight 2 score cows 190c to 218c/kg. Heavy weights 200c to 232c averaging 216c/kg.
