SELX-cattle-Jan-22

Dennis and Deniece Griggs, Araluen sold 12 Limousin x Hereford Steers with Jim Hindmarsh & Co for 325.2c/kg, av 227kg, $738.2ph.

Light restocking steer sold to 357c/kg while the Euro heifers sold from 285c to 306c and light heifers went to a local restocker for 350c/kg at SELX last week.

Numbers increased and the quality was a little plainer. Yearlings were well supplied and there was a good run of Euro cross vealers which sold to restockers.
Prime trade cattle were in short supply. Grown steers to process were also limited with an extra feeder order purchasing more weight. Around 250 cows were penned in a cheaper market.

The 2 score feeder steers were back 12c/kg and the better conditioned and heavier weights were firm to slightly dearer.
Plainer steers started at 260c and sold to 309c/kg as quality improved. Heifers eased 15c on average and made from 230c to 268c/kg. Most sold from 255c to 265c/kg. There were only a few light trade cattle that sold from 275c to 290c/kg.

Grown steers eased 15c to sell from 242c to 258c and feeder steers sold to 280c/kg. Cows eased 12c to 15c with the 2 score medium weights made from 150c to 179c/kg. Heavy 3 and 4 scores made from 170c to 215c and averaged 197c/kg.
