Heavy trade yearling steers were 20c stronger on a much heavier run, and sold from 283c to 290c/kg at SELX yesterday.
Heavy trade heifers averaged 260c/kg.
Numbers eased and quality was varied, but the majority of the yarding suited feeder buyers.
There were a few pens of weaners alongside a mixed run of yearlings. There were several very good pens of heavy yearling steers and bullocks.
Close to 500 cows were offered to the usual buyers. With the exception of the weaners, the market was dearer.
Weaners were up to 20c easier, as steers over 200kg made from 217c to 265c/kg.
Heifers sold from 180c to 245c/kg to restockers. Yearling feeders steers were 4c to 5c dearer, as heavy weights made from 200c to 285c, while medium weights sold to 297c/kg.
Feeder heifers were mainly firm and sold from 258c to 275c/kg.
Grown steers to feed improved 10c to make 240c to 280c, while a very good run of grown steers reached 280c/kg.
The 2 score medium weight cows to process gained 9c on average, and made from 130c to 167c/kg. The heavy 3 and 4 scores made from 158c to 189c and averaged 184c/kg on the prime heavy weights.
