These feeder steers from Coolatai, NSW, sold for 307c/kg on AuctionsPlus.
National steer prices continued to rise in all weight categories, with steers under 250kgs experiencing the highest increase up 39c to average 326c.
National heifer prices increased in all weights except 300 – 350kgs which fell by 5c to average 271c. The most significant price increase was also achieved by the under 250kgs weight range up by 25c to average 277c.
WA listed 287 head on the box this week and recorded a 100% clearance. A line of 26 Angus cross mixed sex yearlings returned 519c/kg dressed weighing 520kgs.
Another highlight saw Angus/Fresian cross trade steers returned 440c/kg dressed for two different lines.
PTIC and joined females were in low demand last week indicating lack of confidence in the season looking forward.
The top price was achieved by a line of 11 Angus PTIC heifers that were offered A/c ‘AS Cain’ from Heywood, VIC which sold for $1,420.
These heifers are 24-26 months of age, 506kgs, EU accredited and are PTIC to Bushy Park and SAV Thunderbird bulls. The same vendor also offered a second line of older Angus PTIC cows that sold for $1,380.
From Byawatha, VIC, a line of 19 PTIC Angus cows were offered A/c ‘A and J Harris’, which sold for $1,400.
These Witherswood blood cows are joined to Witherswood bulls, are 3 – 4 years old, weigh 587kgs and will travel to Wodonga, VIC.
Cow and calf numbers continued to drop this week, falling 791 head to total 696 head offered, with a 54% clearance achieved post auction.
First calvers averaged $1,340 and sold to a top of $1,400, for a line of Angus cows offered from A/c ‘JM & MG Conroyare’, Milawa, VIC, aged 22 – 24 months, and weigh 427kgs.
The calves at foot are 1 – 6 weeks old, average 64kgs and are sired by Spry’s Shorthorn bulls.
The top price returned for proven breeders was for a line 13 Angus cows and calves A/c ‘MC & SK Burdett’ from Bowna, NSW which sold for $1,650.
These cows are Dunoon blood, 36 – 38 months of age, 532kgs and will travel to Deniliquin, NSW. The calves at foot are Dunoon blood, 2 – 8 weeks old, and weigh 97kgs.
