A plethora of scanned in lamb (SIL) merino ewes were on offer on AuctionsPlus last week, making up 25 per cent of the catalogue.
There was an 89% clearance in the category, with buyers looking to Spring lambs. SIL ewe hoggets sold from $145 to $251, with an average of $197.
The top priced mob was a line of 51kg, Pooginook blood, classed breeders from Deniliquin, NSW, which are SIL to Pooginook rams.
Grown and mixed age SIL ewes sold from $157 to $232, with an average of $192, with buyers sourcing stock far and wide. 3 year old SIL ewes from Tungamah, VIC sold to a buyer in Trangie, NSW; 3 to 5 year old SIL ewes from Barham, NSW sold to a buyer in Naracoorte, SA; 4 year old SIL ewes from Deniliquin, NSW sold to NSW buyers in Broken Hill, Hay, Coleambally. Unjoined Merino ewe hoggets sold from $91 to $160, to average $134.
The short supply of 6,000 merino wethers offered this week saw 100% clearance for the category. Merino wether lambs sold from $104 to $153.50, with an average of $132, while grown merino wethers sold from $119 to $148, with an average of $129.
The top priced line was Aug-Sept 18 drop Plevna blood, lambs which had a 1.5’’ skin from Trundle, NSW.
SIL Border Leicester/Merino ewe hoggets were topped by a line of 11 to 12-month-old ewes from Beulah, VIC which sold for $266.
Ewe hoggets averaged $251, with a range of $237 to $266. First Cross ewe lambs averaged $190 and sold from $134 to $221.
