The 2019 World Shorthorn Conference – Meating the Future, is set to be a great two days of education, information and fun with a tremendous lineup of speakers booked for the prestigious event.
With around 100 to 150 attendees expected including domestic and international guests, the Conference shapes as tremendous opportunity to reacquaint with old friends and make new friends at the same time.
To be held at the campus of the Charles Sturt University and set amongst the spectacular campus grounds, the two day event will commence on October 3rd with registrations open at 8.30 am.
The focus of the Conference will be the current and future opportunities present for beef producers through both markets and marketing as well as the exciting space of emerging genetic
technologies and the opportunities for a collaborative and informed supply chain.
Headlining the speakers on Day 1, October 3rd will be:
Ms. Lisa Sharp – Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, MLA
Dr. Ced Wise – Ced Wise Artificial Breeding Services
Mr. Montie Soules – CEO, American Shorthorn Association
Mr. Joe Walsh – China/SE Asia Sales Manager, JBS Northern
Finalising the day of speakers will be a panel discussion with the topic; “The Impact Modern Consumers Have on the Future Beef Supply Chain.”
Headlining the speakers on Day 2, October 4th will be:
Dr. Wade Shafer – Executive Vice President, American Simmental Association
Dr. Mahdi Saatchi – Lead Genomicist, IGS
Mr. Graham Truscott – Graham Truscott Consulting
Again, the Day 2 proceedings will include a panel discussion titled; “The Future Role of Breeds and Breed Associations”
Thursday night, 3rd October, the Charles Sturt Convention Centre will host the World Shorthorn Conference Dinner, which will showcase both the JBS Australia Shorthorn Branded Beef product Thousand Guineas as well as local produce sourced from the Riverina region.
The dinner will also be the venue for the 2019 Ruby & Roan International Elite Genetics Auction which will be interfaced with AuctionsPlus with Alex Croker, H Francis & Co as the auctioneer for the evening.

Tickets for the 2 day event, including refreshments at the Conference and a ticket to the dinner, is $300 inc. GST per person for the ticket and $250 inc. GST per person for each subsequent ticket from each family or business. The cost for students will be $200 inc. GST per person.
