These heifers from Yaven Creek, NSW, sold for $1540.

Joined female stock is still in low supply, with only 1,115 head listed, resulting in above average prices and the strongest clearance for breeders in weeks AuctionsPlus.

PTIC first calving heifers sold from $880 to $1,540 averaging $1,092.

Highlights include 49 PTIC Angus heifers from Yaven Creek, NSW returning the top price; 22 PTIC Poll Hereford heifers from Eldorado, VIC returned $1,470.

Grown and mixed aged PTIC females sold from $930 to $1,480 averaging $1,224, up $113 on last week. Highlights include; 6-8 year old Angus PTIC cows from Borambola, NSW returning the top price; 3-13 year old Santa Gertrudis PTIC cows from Winton, QLD returned $1,350; 4-5 year old Poll Shorthorn PTIC cows from Carrick, TAS returned $1,300.

Cow and calf listings were down, with 217 head listed, with 158 head of this offering listed by A/c “Walker & Co.” of Winton, QLD as their final dispersal, that achieved 100% clearance. All cows with calves at foot sold from $1,160 to $1,820 to average $1,657.

The top price was returned by a line of 63 station mated Santa Gertrudis cows with 61 calves at foot, sired by Santa Gertrudis & Charbray bulls.

These cows have also been running back continuously with Santa Gertrudis bulls. 3 to 11 years of age, these cows and calves will travel to Blackall, QLD. Other highlights include; a line of 17×17 Angus cows and calves from Trangie, NSW returning $1,620. These cows are 5-7 years old, have April-June drop calves at foot sired by Angus Bulls and will travel to Cowra, NSW.

Vendors are looking to capitalise of the strength of the young cattle market as prices continually rise across the board online and at the yards in the eastern states. As a result, weaner & yearling stock supply increased this week, up 2,401 to total 6,263 head. Buyers responded with clearance going beyond 90%.

Light Steers weighing under 280kgs sold from 230c to 385c averaging 325c, up 12c on last week. Highlights include; 120 Angus weaned steers aged 9-10 months, weighing 231kgs from Corryong, VIC returned 385c; 76 Angus steers aged 3.5-6 months, weighing 153kgs from Barraba, NSW returned 373c; 110 Angus weaned steers aged 10-11 months, weighing 238kgs from Mount Schank, SA returned 368c.

Steers weighing 280-330kgs sold from 289c to 367c and averaged 323c. Highlights include; 10-11 month old Angus weaned steers weighing 284kgs from Myrrhee, VIC returning 367c; 11 month old Angus weaned steers weighing 292kgs from Orange, NSW returned 361c; 10-14 month old Angus cross feeder steers weighing 311kgs from Rathdowney, QLD returned 300c.

Southern feedlot buyers liked the heavier steer offerings purchasing the three top lines over 330kgs. These cattle sold from 292c to 363c and averaged 333c.

Highlights include; the price top price returned by a line of 12-18 month old feeder steers weighing 372kgs from Tamworth, NSW achieving 363c or $1350 buyers terms; 10-11 month of Angus steers weighing 336kgs from Cudal, NSW achieved 356c; 9-13 month old Angus weaners weighing 332 kgs from Guyra, NSW returned 350c.

Light heifers under 280kgs sold well from 220c to 321c to average 265c. Highlights include; 9-10-month-old Hereford unweaned heifers, weighing 212kgs from Meningie, SA returning 321c and will remain locally in SA; 7-8 month old Angus weaner heifers, weighing 188kgs from Wagga Wagga, NSW returned 319c. A/c “Station Agencies” Manilla, NSW offered 425 weaned Angus heifers across 6 lines, achieving 100% clearance that sold from 249c to 318c and averaged 292c.

These heifers are aged 7-11 months, weigh 220kgs and will travel to different buyers in both NSW and VIC.
