Cow and calf units last week saw 2,384 head offered, with clearance dropping slightly on last week to 65% on AuctionsPlus.
Prices ranged from $760 to $1,875 and averaged $1,336, up $45 on last.
The top price was achieved by a line of 16 Angus X cows (pictured) and calves, A/c ‘BJ and JL Pfeiffer’, Long Flat, SA.
The cows are 4-8 years and are bred from Bull Oak Well & Pathfinder bloodlines. Other highlights include a line of 2 year old Angus heifers with calves at foot which sold for $1,840, from Walcha, NSW.
The cows are EU accredited and the calves are sired by Wattletop bulls. In Bagdad, TAS A/c ‘Glen Avon’ sold 14 Simmental/Hereford Cows and calves for $1,570. The cows are rising 5 year old and will be heading over to Victoria.
PTIC females saw a total of 541 head listed, with cows achieving 95% clearance. Prices ranged from $1,070 to $1,640 and averaged $1,344.
The top price was achieved by a line of 11 Murray Grey X heifers, A/c ‘Northview Estate’ Ringarooma, TAS. The heifers 18-26 months old and are PTIC to SimAngus bulls. The same vendor also sold another 6 lines of PTIC heifers.
Other highlights include a line of 17 Angus cows from Bombala, NSW which sold for $1,490. The cows are 3-6 years old and are PTIC back to Angus bulls.
Looking to the West, in the WA cattle sale a line of 14 weaned Angus steers from Mount Barker sold for $860.
They are 5-6 months old and weigh 245kgs. Also in Mount Barker, 16 Angus steers from the same vendor sold for $960. They weigh 282kgs and are 7-8 months old.
