Merino ewe lambs hot property at $321

Merino ewe lambs increased by $16 to average $239, selling from $145 to $321.

The top price was returned by a line of 1200 lambs (pictured) from Tammin, WA, with first-time vendors being blown away with their lambs going $71 over reserve.

These ewe lambs which were offered as two lines of 600 are 10 – 11 months of age, 60kgs, of Seymour Park blood, have a 1¼” skin on their back and will travel 3,226kms interstate to Barellan, NSW.

Merino ewe hoggets sold from $170 to $331 and averaged $261. The top price was returned by a line of 370 station mated ewes from Geurie, NSW. These MPM blood ewes are 22 – 23 months, 55kgs and will travel to Cumnock, NSW.

Young Merino breeders (2-4 years) sold from $175 to $330 and averaged $259. The top price was returned by a line of 296 SIL Merino ewes from Brewarrina, NSW.

These Bungulla blood ewes are 3 years old, 56kgs, have a 2¼“skin on their backs, are SIL to Poll Merino rams and will travel to Narromine, NSW.

Proven Merino breeders (4+ years) sold from $160 to $325 and averaged $228. The top price was returned by a line of 195 SIL Poll Merino ewes from Booleroo Centre, SA. These Mernowie blood ewes are SIL to Ulandi Park Poll Dorset rams, have a ½” skin on their backs, are 79kgs, are 4.5 years of age and will travel to Millicent, SA.

Merino wether lambs averaged $151, selling from $123 to $201. From Cooma, NSW, a line of 225 woolgrower wethers lambs returned the top price. These Greendale blood wethers which are 6 – 7-month-old, 38kgs, have a 2” skin on their backs and will travel to Young, NSW.

Merino wethers sold from $146 to $183 and averaged $161. The top price was achieved by a line of 230 wethers from Nullawil, VIC. These Moorundie Park and Gundar blood wethers are 20 – 21 months of age, 53kgs, have a 1½” skin on their back and will travel to Elmore, VIC.

First cross ewe lambs averaged $265, selling from $173 to $311. A line of 220 future breeder ewe lambs from Trundle, NSW, returned the top price.

These ewe lambs are 44kgs, Jun – Jul 19’ drop and will travel to Young, NSW. First cross ewes sold from $190 to $426 and averaged $346. From Mangoplah, NSW, a line of 202 SIL ewes achieved the top price.

These Tara Park/Wattle Farm blood ewes are 61kgs, 20 – 21 months of age, SIL to Poll Dorset rams and will travel to Taralga, NSW.

Looking to the west this week, 8,701 head were offered. Whilst a line of Merino ewe lambs from the west returned top price in the National Lamb sale, the rest of the WA offering also saw some solid results seeing the entire offering sell at auction to buyers from NSW.

The offering of Merino ewe lambs averaged $252, selling from $191 to $321. From Meckeringa line of May/Jul 19’ drop Auburn Valley & Cardiff bloodline Merinos, weighing 39kg returned $240 and are travelling 3,400km to Forbes, NSW.

SIL Merino ewes sold from $165 to $275, averaging $220. From Quairdaing, WA, a line of rising 3 & 4-year-old Claypan blood Merino ewes, weighing 71kg and SIL to Poll Merino rams achieved the top price. These ewes find themselves travelling over 3,000km to Deniliquin, NSW.

Also, from the west, a line of Kingtail park Dohne ewe lambs, May/Jun 19’ drop, weighing 48kg from Needilup, WA, returned $200.

The TAS sheep sale reported a 94% clearance from the 3,849 head on offer. Highlights include 126 mixed sex lambs from Mole Creek return the top price of the sale of $178.

These 2nd cross Dorset/Texel/Composite lambs are 45kgs, Aug – Sep 19’ drop and will travel to Whitemore, TAS. From Sheffield, a line of 450 mixed-sex store lambs returned $176. These lambs are 39kgs, Sep – 19’ drop and will travel to Launceston, TAS.
