Cow and calf numbers were down slightly on AuctionsPlus, totaling 882 head with prices ranging from $830 to $3,280 and averaged $2,378.
The top price was achieved by a line of 13 NSM Bongongo blood Angus cows and calves, A/c ‘DJ Graham Trust’, Coolac, NSW. The cows are 3 year old, weigh 557kgs and have 6-10 week old CAF.
The same vendor offered another line of 7-8 year old cows with CAF which sold for $2,660. Other highlights include a line of 4-5 year old Charolais cows (pictured) with calves at foot which returned $3,140, from Patchewollock, VIC. In Glenmorgan, QLD A/c ‘MRH Enterprises’ sold 47 Santa X station mated cows and calves for $2,510. The cows are 3 year old weighing 421kgs.
PTIC cow listings increased this week, totaling 1,832 head, up 198 on last. Prices were also up $96, ranging from $1,230 to $2,920 and averaging $1,917. The top price was achieved by a line of 26 rising 3 year old Angus cows, A/c ‘King Isle Farms’, Flowerdale, VIC’.
The cows weigh 637kgs, are PTIC back to Angus bulls and are heading to a buyer in NSW. Other highlights include, a line of 4-5 year old Angus cows which sold for $2,860, from Ben Lomond, NSW and are heading across the border to a buyer in QLD. In Millicent, SA, A/c ‘Woolwash Trading Trust’ sold 14 Angus/Murray grey cows for $1,920. The cows are 3-4 year old and weigh 582kgs.
PTIC heifer listings were also up this week, totaling 1,606 head, an increase of 250 on last. Prices ranged from $1,000 to $2,820 and averaged $1,625.
The top price was achieved by a line of 16 rising 3 year old Angus heifers, A/c ‘GA & KA Baker’, Ben Lomond, NSW. The cows weigh 612kgs, are PTIC to Speriby North Angus bulls, and are heading to a buyer in QLD.
Other highlights include a line of 10 Speckle Park/Angus heifers from Traralgon, VIC. These heifers are 20-22 months old, weigh 396 kgs and sold for $2,360. Looking to Fitzroy Crossing, WA A/c ‘Fossil Downs Station’ offered 198 Droughtmaster X heifers across two lots.
The heavier heifers weighing 290kgs are 12-24 months old, sold for $1,280 and are heading to a buyer in QLD. The lighter heifers weigh 269kgs, are 12-24 months old, achieved $1,000 and are heading over 3,500kms to Dubbo, NSW.
Light steers under 200kgs sold from 478c to 628c and averaged 565c, up 76c on last. The top price was achieved by a line of 8-10 month old Angus steers, weighing 172kgs, A/c ‘WL Grieve’, Armidale, NSW.
Another highlight includes 120 weaned Angus steers from Dunmore, QLD. These steers weigh 180kgs, sold for 618c and are remaining in QLD. Prices for steers weighing 200-280kgs were down slightly this week by 22c, averaging 467c. The top price of 571c was achieved by 36 Angus weaned steers, A/c ‘A Stewart’ from Ilford, NSW weighing 223kgs.
Heavier steers weighing between 280-330kgs averaged 408c and ranged from 338c to 487c. The top price went to a line of 8-10 month old weaned Angus steers, A/c ‘PA & SS Perkins’, Glen Innes, NSW.
The steers weigh 289kgs and are of Mundoo Angus bloodlines. Looking to Naracoorte, SA, 64 Angus steers sold for 458c. These steers are 9-10 months old and weigh 305kgs. Steers weighing 330-400kgs averaged 410c this week and ranged from 322c to 450c, up 17c on last.
The top price went to a line of 7-11 month old Angus steers from Warialda, NSW, weighing 335kgs. Steers weighing over 400kgs averaged 376c and ranged from 341c to 379c. The top price was achieved by a line of 43 Santa Gertrudis X feeder steers from Eulo, QLD. The steers weigh 421kgs, are 14-22 months of age and Rosevale Santa blood.
Light heifers weighing under 200kgs were up 71c this week, averaging 530c and ranging from 372c to 675c. The top price went to a line of 8-10 month old Angus heifers from Inverell, NSW which weigh 147kgs.
Heifers weighing 200-280kgs sold from 360c to 552c and averaged 409c. The top price was achieved by 35 weaned Angus heifers from Tamworth, NSW. The heifers are 9-10 months old and weigh 218kgs. Another highlight includes 17 weaned heifers from Wangaratta, VIC which sold for 455c. The heifers are 7-8 months and weigh 212kgs.
Heavier heifers weighing 280-330kgs sold from 277c to 554c and averaged 409c, up 11c on last. The top price was achieved by a line of 30 unweaned Angus heifers from Deepwater, NSW.
The heifers are 8-11 months old, weigh 304kgs and were offered by A/c ‘Speriby North Pty Ltd’. Heifers weighing between 330-400kgs sold from 332c to 505c and averaged 387c, down 3c on last.
The top price was again achieved by A/c ‘Speriby North Pty Ltd’, the heifers are 346kgs and are 10-18 months old. Heifers weighing over 400kgs sold from 348c to 377c and averaged 367c. The top price went to 50 Angus feeder heifers from Clifton, QLD. The heifers are 16-18 months old and weigh 429kgs.
Across the Bass Strait, Tasmania saw a total of 398 head offered, an increase of 126 from last week with clearance rates holding firm at 93%. Weaner steers sold between $390 and $1,330 to average $1,139, easing $94 from last week.
The top line offered by A/c ‘C F McCarthy’ from Karoola consisted of 28 weaned Angus steers aged 9-10 months weighing 318kgs. Weaner heifers sold between $710 and $1,355 to average $1,088. The top price went to a line of 9-10 month old Angus Heifers by A/c ‘T & S Clark’ from Powranna weighing 294kgs.
