The top price was secured by A/c ‘Calmsley Pastoral Co’ from Uranquinty NSW, with their line of 17 PTIC cows (pictured) with 3-5-month-old Angus calves at foot. The cows weigh 571kgs and are 1-2 months PTIC to Angus bulls.
PTIC cows sold from $1,100 to $2,550/head, averaging $2,203/head, a $15 jump on last week’s averages among the 878 head offered. A/c ‘R A Pegum’ from Mittagong NSW, offered the top priced lot with 19 PTIC cows aged 5-7 years. These cows weigh 729kgs and are 4-5 months PTIC to Limousin bulls.
PTIC heifers sold between $1,720 and $2,800/head to average $2,215/head – up $96 on the previous week. A/c ‘SN Nivison & Co’ secured the top price for two of their lines of PTIC heifers at Walcha, NSW.
One lot was a line of 25-26-month-old Angus PTIC heifers weighing 593kgs. They are PTIC to Angus bulls and were purchased by a buyer in Armidale, NSW.
This week saw over 4,000 heifers offered with prices remaining strong. One line of light heifers under 200kgs sold for 481c/kg, offered by A/c ‘Aringa North Pastoral’ from Port Fairy VIC, with 10-11-month-old Hereford cross heifers weighing 184kgs.
Heifers weighing 200-280kgs sold from 360c to 558c/kg, averaging 463c/kg – up 11c. A/c ‘Somerset Trading Company’ from Durong QLD, secured the top price with their line of 12-14-month-old Gelbvieh/Red Angus heifers weighing 217kgs.
The 280-330kg heifers sold from 392c to 466c/kg, averaging 440c/kg – up 15c on last week. The top price went to a line of 11-13-month-old Angus weaned heifers weighing 313kgs offered by A/c ‘Glynn Agriculture’ from Boggabilla, NSW.
Feeder heifers weighing 330-400kgs sold from 362c to 428c/kg, averaging 411c/kg – easing 26c. A/c ‘RW Shearer’ from Glen Innes NSW, secured the top price for their line of 7-11-month-old Angus NSM future breeders weighing 347kgs with Sara Park and Eastern Plains Angus bloodlines.
Heavy heifers weighing over 400kgs sold from 365c to 386c/kg, averaging 379c/kg – back 21c. From Knebsworth VIC, A/c ‘Mt Eccles Estate’ listed the top priced lot of 17-19-month-old Angus feeder heifers weighing 480kgs.
Steer numbers remained firm on last week with 6,439 head on offer. Similar to heifers, only one line of light steers weighing less than 200kgs sold for 490c/kg. A/c ‘Ivyhurst Dairy’ from Echuca VIC, sold the top priced lot with a line of 3-4-month-old weaned Friesian steers weighing 121kgs.
Steers weighing 200-280kgs sold from 329c to 676c/kg, averaging 530c/kg – up 27c on last week.
From Lockhart NSW, A/c ‘Yirdeen Farms’ offered the top priced lot of 4-5-month-old Angus and Angus cross unweaned steers weighing 218kgs.
Steers weighing 280-330kgs sold between 455c and 501c/kg, averaging 479c/kg – up 5c. The top price went to a line of 6-8-month-old Angus weaned steers from Glenrowan West VIC, offered by A/c ‘Glenalla Park’ weighing 323kgs.
Feeder steers weighing 330-400kgs sold from 377c to 504c/kg, averaging 452c/kg – remaining firm on last week. A/c ‘Glenruben Angus’ from Woomargama NSW, secured the top price with their line of 9-10-month-old Angus weaned steers weighing 349kgs.
Heavy steers weighing over 400kgs sold between 388c and 425c/kg, averaging 414c/kg – easing 9c. From Tumut, NSW, A/c ‘Shore Pastoral’ offered the top priced lot with 15-16-month-old Crawford and Dunoon blood Angus steers weighing 438kgs.
Looking to Tasmania, there were 479 head on offer which achieved an 87% clearance rate.
Weaner and yearling heifers made up 30% of the total catalogue, selling from $1050 to $1670/head, averaging $1488/head and achieving a 100% clearance. The top price went to a line of 19-20-month-old Angus yearling heifers weighing 486kgs offered by A/c ‘G & Z Tome’ from Deloraine.
Weaner and yearling steers also sold to 100% clearance, selling from $1490 to $1810/head, averaging $1648/head. Offered by A/c ‘Headlam Ag Trust’, the top price went to a line of 14-15-month-old Angus yearling steers weighing 463kgs from Woodbury.
Over to the West, the WA cattle sale achieved a 96% clearance rate among the 292 head offered. Feeder steers made up 32% of the catalogue and sold to a top of $1,590/head with a line of 47 Angus steers. These steers weigh 391kgs, are aged 8-10 months and were offered by A/c ‘RB McNab & Co’ from Scott River East.
