Rare next-generation Wagyu genetics now available

Rare and high-performance next-generation genetics being proven through the AWA Progeny Test Program are now available.

Link your herd to the core reference population driving genetic gain for the Wagyu sector. The 2021 AWA-PTP sires include a number of bulls in the top 1% of the breed for specific traits and $Indexes.

The EBV averages across the sire group are outstanding including standout averages of +24 for Carcase Weight, +1.7 for Marble Score and +$226 for the Self-Replacing Index.

The inaugural AWA-PTP Semen Sale will offer AWA members and the broader Wagyu Sector, the opportunity to bid via tender for semen packages from the 33 highly anticipated 2021 AWA-PTP Sires.

The tender will be open from 8 am 12 October 2021 through to 5 pm 19 October with bids to be submitted through the AuctionsPlus online selling platform. Up to 20 semen packages per sire (comprising of 10 straws per package) will be available to bid on via tender, providing the Wagyu sector with the opportunity to access the next generation of industry-leading genetics and link their herds to the AWA-PTP reference population.

Participants will be able to place bids for semen packages from their selection of up to 20 different 2021 AWA-PTP sires, creating a tailored package to suit their breeding needs. These sires will be ultimately proven through the AWA Progeny Test Program.

All funds generated from the sale will be re-invested into the AWA-PTP to cover the performance recording of all current Wagyu traits and the development of vital new female reproduction, feedlot performance, meat and carcase quality traits for Japanese Black Wagyu cattle.
