Angus Australia pays tribute to Enid Fisher for her contribution to breed

Enid-Fisher-Enid Fisher, a past CEO of the Angus Society of Australia, passed away on Wednesday, January 26 2022.   Enid was in her 96th year and until recently had lived independently in her home at Nambucca Heads, NSW.

Enid started working for the Angus Society in 1972 as Registrar and took on the role as Chief Executive Officer following the resignation of Rupert Simpson in 1983.

Her tenure as CEO from 1983 to 1994 was a very significant time for the Angus Society.

Enid had a vision of creating greater connection between stud and commercial breeders.  She convinced the Councillors at the time to engage Don Nicol as Director of Breed Development and initiated a five-year corporate plan with the goal of achieving a greater market share of the Australian beef market and for Angus to be recognised as leaders in breed improvement.

Another major project completed by Enid was the relocation of the society’s headquarters from Sydney to the present site in Armidale.

Enid was much liked and respected by the society’s members.

The direction and path set by Enid and her supporters during her tenure with the Society set a clear path for the modern-day success of Angus.
