Scanned in lamb Aussie White ewes return $730/head

SIL-Aussie-Whites-TrangieSIL shedding breed ewes returned the highest clearance across joined ewe categories last week, reaching 94% with prices averaging $481/head.

A highlight amongst shedding breed ewes included three lines of SIL Australian White ewes (pictured) from Trangie, NSW which returned $730/head.

The 5.5-year-old ewes joined to Tattykeel blood rams weigh an average of 92.6 kg and will travel to Longford, VIC.

Crossbred lambs had a total of 21,217 head listed last week and returned a very strong clearance of 85% immediately post sale.

Prices for the category remained firm to average $160/head. A highlight included a line of 500 Poll Dorset/Border Leicester/Merino mixed sex lambs from Scotts Creek, Victoria weighing 42.1kg liveweight which returned $182/head.

Merino wether lambs averaged $146/head this week across the 11,192 head offered however clearance levels eased to 60%. From Moree, NSW two lines of Aug/Sep ’21 drop wether lambs with a total of 2,000 head returned $143/head.

Shedding breed lambs had a considerable offering in the lamb sale this week with a total of 3,198 head. From Lucindale, South Australia a line of 425 Australian White/White dorper future breeder ewe lambs weighing 44.5kg liveweight returned $320/head and will travel to Lismore, VIC.

First cross ewe lambs had a total of 8,885 head listed this week with the category reaching a 50% clearance as prices averaged $219/head- back $24 from last week.

A highlight included two lines totaling 520 head of Border Leicester/Merino future breeder ewe lambs from Trangie, NSW which returned $240/head. The Jul/Aug ’21 drop ewe lambs weigh an average of 47.5kg liveweight and will travel to Ballarat, VIC.

The National Sheep sale had a total of 39,834 head offered across 265 lots with clearance rates across the sale reaching 51% immediately following the auction close. Joined ewe listings accounted for 40% of the sheep sale this week with 15,813 head offered which achieved mixed results.

SIL Merino ewes had 7,298 head listed in this week’s sale which averaged $275/head as the category reached a clearance of just 39% – highlighting the clear price point discrepancies between buyer and sellers. A standout line of 420 2-2.5-year-old ewes weighing 66kg liveweight from Mellool, NSW returned $365/head.

NSM Merino ewes had a total offering of 6,859 head this week which returned an average of $274/head- up $59 from last week. From Bourke, NSW three lots of 385 head of 2.5-year-old Kerin Poll Merino ewes weighing 58.7kg returned $360-362/head. One line from the sale will travel to Jamestown, South Australia while the remaining two lots will remain locally.
