Angus Australia is calling for the next round of nominations for Angus sires to produce the Cohort 13 progeny.
For more than a decade, the Angus Sire Benchmarking Program (ASBP) has contributed to the growing reference population of Angus cattle in Australia, providing invaluable data for producers for hard to measure traits.
Approximately 30 Angus bulls will be selected for the 2022 joining program, with the bull selection criteria based on genetic diversity, breeding values, selection indexes and their relationship to sires already used in the ASBP.
To be eligible, registered Angus bulls must be nominated before Monday August 1st, 2022.
Over the course of its 12 cohorts, the ASBP has produced over 12,000 progeny from the 410 bulls involved in the program, with progeny registered in members herds currently totalling 134,500 animals, with the opportunity to enter bulls into the program of great benefit to Angus producers in terms of contributing to the Angus reference population and benchmarking their genetics.
