Ready to take your skills and knowledge to the next level and embark on a life-changing adventure? The Angus Foundation is excited to announce the return of the 2025 Kansas State University Scholarship, offering a unique opportunity for a young Australian to study at one of the leading land grant universities in the world.
The scholarship is available to Angus Australia members aged 18 to 25 with a strong interest in working in agriculture and the cattle industry. Through the scholarship, the recipient will have the opportunity to participate in university classes, live on campus and travel to various competitions and events across the US including conferences, ranches and industry activities.
“Visiting scholars interact closely with undergraduate and graduate students at K-State,” said Professor Dan Moser, Professor and Associate Dean at Kansas State University.
“They typically audit courses (attend on a non-credit basis) aligned with their interests. K-State offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate courses in Animal Science; Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness; Crop, Forage, and Range Management; Global Food Systems Leadership; Food Science and Milling Science; and all other aspects of Agriculture.
“Visiting scholars attend lab classes and assist with university livestock herds, and the annual K-State Angus bull sale in March. They also typically travel visit livestock operations in the state of Kansas and beyond. They sometimes spend as long as two or three weeks assisting on ranches.”
He continued, “They may attend agriculture industry events, such as the national Cattle Industry Convention, national livestock shows, K-State’s own Cattlemen’s Day, or other events they choose. They may also travel other parts of the U.S. on their own or as part of tour groups. They will visit the American Angus Association headquarters in St. Joseph, Missouri, and can visit other registered or commercial Angus ranches.”
The Kansas State University Scholarship is part of the various scholarships, awards and bursaries offered by the Angus Foundation.
“The scholarship is a significant investment from the Angus Foundation,” said Angus Australia’s Jake Phillips. “In 2025 Angus Australia would like to acknowledge the Laurie family from Knowla Livestock in helping to make this opportunity possible with their donation of the Angus Foundation heifer at their 2023 sale, which made $40,000 for the Angus Foundation.”
Applications for the Kansas State University Scholarship close Friday, August 23rd.
